The Demographic Research Institute at the Hungarian Statistical Office with great sorrow announces that László Hablicsek at the age of 57 died on the 11th of November, 2010. László Hablicsek throughout his career was an excellent and dedicated representative and scholar of mathematical demography and population projections with international reputation and acknowledgement. For almost one and a half decade he has been also the deputy director of the institute. His early death causes an enormous loss in Hungarian and international demography and the institute and his colleagues inside and outside the country will always remember him and his scholarly achievements.
