Demographic Portrait of Hungary, 2012

Demographic Research Institute HCSO, Budapest, 2012

Considering the serious demographic challenges Hungary has to face and feeling the increasing interest of policy-makers, journalists and the wider audience in population issues, three years ago the researchers of the Demographic Research Institute in Budapest (DRI) decided to publish a volume in every three years on the country’s demographic conditions. This triennial publication concentrates on basic demographic trends and interprets the Hungarian demographic situation in a European context. After the first two volumes of the series were published in 2009 and 2012, by now the English translation of the second volume has also been prepared. The English edition has been supported by the European Commission and the network of Population Europe (www.population-europe.eu).
